I live in New York and oh yeah, there were lockdowns! We all were stuck at home for several months. The bigger picture? Is your "big picture" Switzerland? That's the smallest picture there is. I know Switzerland extremely well and know that the country is priviledged and as a result of that, Swiss people have completely lost touch with reality, which is part of the reason I couldn't stand living there. Your little island will sink one day too if everything around goes to shit. Sorry!
Here's your bigger picture for Europe: https://voxeu.org/article/inequality-and-poverty-effects-lockdown-europe
And here's some of your global bigger picture: https://reliefweb.int/report/world/almost-10-million-children-may-never-return-school-following-covid-19-lockdown
Switerland will also be affected by the recession: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0277953617303945
Assuming you're a woman, you should care: https://www.mckinsey.com/featured-insights/future-of-work/covid-19-and-gender-equality-countering-the-regressive-effects#
Start reading those and then tell me again that I am the one not looking at the big picture. Overreaction is never appropriate. We will globally suffer for many years to come as a consequence of the overreaction.
